1 | Toronto Raptors (from Nets)
Ricky Rubio PG Spain
When the Raptors traded Jose Calderon it became apparent what their plans would be. They were making room for one of the best European prospects in the past 10 years. Rubio will have a chance to flourish as a rookie with the Raptors. This pick just makes absolute sense for both parties
Other Possibility: John Wall 2 | Washington Wizards (from heat)
John Wall PG Kentucky
The Wizards have the perfect opportunity to get a franchise player here. Wall could very well be the cornerstone for the Wizards for the next 10-12 seasons. Although they already have Curry, this should have no bearing on their selection of Wall.
Other Possibility: None 3 | Chicago Bulls (from Timberwolves)
Cole Aldrich F/C Kansas
Aldrich would fill the biggest need for the Bulls, especially after trading Kaman. Aldrich can come in immediately and provide Chicago with a huge defensive and rebounding force in the paint. I don't see anyway they select a perimeter player, so the few other options are DeJuan Blair and Patrick Patterson, but neither will make the immediate impact that Aldrich will.
Other Possibility: Patrick Patterson 4 | New York Knicks (from Hawks)
Donatas Motiejunas F Zalgiris Kaunas
Motiejunas down the line could very the PF void that the Knicks have. Motiejunas could come in as a rookie and put up respectable offensive numbers, but he must have time develop the defense and rebounding abilities an inside player must have. The Knicks could toy with the idea of playing Motiejunas at Small Forward, although that would be a huge risk. This will be an intriguing selection when it rolls around, as New York could go in several different directions.
Other Possibility: Demar DeRozan 5 | Detroit Pistons (from Mavericks)
Demar DeRozan F USC
Another intriguing selection. The Pistons need another perimeter player like they need another hole in the head. Billups, Sessions, Stuckey, Green, and Prince are all respectable players. Their main weakness is on the inside. They could opt to take the best player here, which is what I see them doing. They can always address their big man need with their other selections as there will still be several quality ones availiable.
Other Possibility: Patrick Patterson 6 | Houston Rockets (from Nuggets)
Patrick Patterson F Kentucky
This pick is pretty simple. The Rockets need a Power Forward, and Patterson is the best one here. Scola is a nice player, he just simply isn't producing enough for the Rockets to be put in a chance to win. They have a plethora of guards, so if it isn't Patterson (or he is gone by this pick) the next logical choice would be DeJuan Blair or BJ Mullens
Other Possibility: DeJuan Blair 7 | Philadelphia 76ers
Tyreke Evans G Memphis
The 76ers could opt to go a different way here, but I could see them easily selection Evans. The 76ers really need some inside help, as it seems injuries are catching up to Elton Brand. With Davis and Iggy leading the way, Philly should select someone who could help them win now. They could slid Iguodala over to SF and Thad to the Power Forward spot and stick Evans in as a starter from day one. I think this would be the best solution for the 76ers woes.
Other Possibility: BJ Mullens 8 | Milwaukee Bucks
BJ Mullens C Ohio State
The Bucks really need an inside player to go along with Bogut. Charlie V is a SF in a PF's body. Mullens has the long term potential to become a defensive force in the NBA and could bring forth one of the deadliest post tandems in the league. Is there another avenue the Bucks could go ? If Mullens is gone, look for Michael Washington to be picked up here.
Other Possibility: Michael Washington 9 | Los Angeles Clippers
Kyle Singler F Duke
Singler just seems like a fit in LA. He would come in, likely off the bench, and offer a potent scoring punch that the Clippers lack. If they opt to not resign Brad Miller and Al Harrington, Singler could likely find himself starting. I find Singler intriguing, he could become a potent scorer or a solid role player, just depends on his development.
Other Possibility: Jodie Meeks 10 | Houston Rockets
DaJuan Summers F Georgetown
DaJuan offers the Rockets an immediate scoring threat, whether he becomes a starter or not. One of the main lackings in Houston is a solid bench. If they fill their big man need with the Nuggets selection, the next logical choice would be to find a big man. Another avenue they could explore would be selecting a good Point Guard to develop. Lowry is nice, but they may be able to find a suitable Point at this juncture.
Other Possibility: Nick Calathes 11 | Detroit Pistons
DeJuan Blair F Pitt
If the Pistons do indeed select a perimeter player with their first choice, they desperately need to select a big here. There will likely be some nice inside prospects here, including Michael Washington and Gain Lawal. Blair has the best chance to make an impact, as he will go toe-to-toe with any current NBAer's strenght.
Other Possibility: Michael Washington 12 | New York Knicks
Nick Calathes PG Florida
This will be NYK's fourth lottery selection over the past two seasons. :kerstsmiley: One of the places they will be lacking will be Guard depth, assuming Rafer Alston optos to test the Free Agency waters. Calathes will fill this void and also provide matchup problems for several other Guards in the league. There is also a need to fill a scorer and defender off the bench from the Small Forward spot, but they can address this need with their two second round choices.
Other Possibility: Jodie Meeks 13 | Chicago Bulls
Michael Washington F Arkansas
Even after selecting Aldrich, I would expect the Bulls to try and load up and select another PF or C. Their perimeter players are all decent, and there isn't a player here that would be an upgrade over Mike Miller, Hedo Turkoglu, or even their bench wing, Andrei Kirilenko. Washington would play a similar role as that of Hakim Warrick, but is a better defender and will likely be a better rebounder than Warrick is. If the Bulls opt to choose someone on the perimeter, their likely choice would be Jodie Meeks.
Other Possibility: Jodie Meeks 14 | Indiana Pacers Gani Lawal F Georgia Tech
15 | Los Angeles Clippers Jodie Meeks G Kentucky
16 | Orlando Magic James Johnson F Wake Forest
17 | Houston Rockets Greivis Vasquez G Maryland
18 | Oklahoma City Thunder Damion James F Texas
19 | Toronto Raptors Omri Casspi F Maccabi Tel Aviv
20 | Phoenix Suns Jeff Teague G Wake Forest
21 | Golden State Warriors David Ramsey G Arkansas
22 | Los Angeles Lakers Jonas Jerebko F Angelico Biella
23 | Washington Wizards Andrew Ogilvy F/C Vanderbilt
24 | Portland Trail Blazers Japeth Aguilar C Western Kentucky
25 | Oklahoma City Thunder Kenneth Faried F Morehead State
26 | Dallas Mavericks Nando De Colo G Sainte Catherine
27 | Oklahoma City Thunder Mark Cardona G De La Salle University
28 | Oklahoma City Thunder Dionte Christmas G Temple
29 | Charlotte Bobcats Slava Kravtsov C Odessa
